Green Domus was founded in 2005, the same year that the Kyoto Protocol came into force, and was one of the pioneers in the development of CDM Projects in Brazil and in the world.

The founding partners were 2, an economist and a mechanical engineer, and they succeeded in establishing, through hard work and study, an understanding about the sector and unique projects that made Green Domus have great projection.

Over time, CDM projects proved to be an unstable path and a high risk business, and Green Domus suffered a great shock in 2009, as a result of the global crisis of 2008, also having gone through its only corporate restructuring since its foundation. However, the developed skills and the increasing technical reputation in the market allowed a fast adaptation to the new reality by diversifying the portfolio of activity within climate competence and, by expanding the services related to sustainability, for which the company still had little experience. In order to fix this gap, one of the partners did a post graduate course in sustainability strategies in Harvard, from which Green Domus developed a methodology approach and engagement for reports elaboration and corporate sustainability management.

  • 08/2005 – Foundation of Green Domus and signature of the first contract, the CDM Project from Anaconda Landfill.
  • 01/2008 – Started the first commitment period of Kyoto Protocol.
  • 01/2008 – Launching of the Project: Green Domus carbon neutral. Since then, Green Domus annually offset their GHG emissions.
  • 07/2008 – 1st Project held in Africa – Eco Resort Sangano in Angola.
  • 11/2008 – 1st CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) Project Certification – Carbon credit emission of the Anaconda Landfill Project.
  • 08/2009 – 1st event offset with the use of CERs (Certified Emissions Reduction) – Lanxess 100 years Concert.
  • 08/2009 – 1st Project held in Spain – GHG Emissions Inventory for a Department of Terrassa city hall – Barcelona Province.
  • 12/2009 – COP 15 in Copenhagen (Denmark).
  • 12/2009 – 1st participation in COPs (Conference of the Parties). Since then we have been present in all.
  • 01/2010 – 1st Inventory of GHG Emissions in accordance with ISO 14.064.
  • 05/2010 – Participation in the Sustainable Manufacturing Summit in Chicago – Presentation of the Sustainability case.
  • 04/2012 – Green Domus partner makes first project in support of United Nations in Africa with focus on the Elaboration of Rio+20 Report – Since then we carried out four projects.
  • 07/2012 – Launching of the courses about emissions inventory, theory and practice.
  • 08/2012 – Green Domus partner performs the review of the Pulp and Paper Industry Plan’s technical note.
  • 01/2013 – End of Kyoto Protocol’s first commitment.
  • 02/2013 – Green Domus delivers the 100th project.
  • 05/2013 – 1st LEED certification project held in Unilever of Pouso Alegre – MG.
  • 06/2013 – Constitution and association with ABRAVERI (Brazilian Association of Verification and Certification of Emissions Inventories and Socio-Environmental Reports).
  • 08/2013 – Green Domus partner is hired by PNUD to participate in the preparation of the Brazil World Cup’s GHG emissions inventory.
  • Green Domus Desenvolvimento Sustentável Ltda. was accredited by the INMETRO General Coordenation for GHG Inventory – Validator and Verifier Body (OVV, in Portuguese) under number 0001.
  • 07/2014 – 1st Assurance Contract as accredited entity.
  • 07/2014 – Green Domus partner is invited as an ABRAVERI member to teach a class at CETESB about Inventory of Greenhouse Gases and Public and Corporative Sustainability.
  • 12/2014 – Green Domus reaches the mark of 200 projects undertaken.
  • 04/2015 – Green Domus issues the first Accredited Verification Statement for a GHG Protocol participating company.
